Hanukkah( Chanukkah). The Festival of Lights. The Feast of Dedication. However you refer to it, this eight day celebration is a joyous time of year filled with food, fun, and family. This year, we are all reimagining our holiday celebrations and get-togethers. So, we came up with a list that will help you commemorate this wonderful holiday. So, here are some ideas to party with your loved ones this year. Let’s get ready to celebrate these eight crazy nights!
1 Get Lit
What would the festival of lights be without the lighting of the Menorah? Since families cannot celebrate this special tradition in person, plan a virtual gathering! Plan a different activity each night to do with your guest before you light the candle for that night.
2 Lots of Laktes
There are so many delicious ways to have Laktes. Why not have a Laktes Exchange with your family and friends. This is a great way to share some of your holiday favorites and try some new ones. If you’re local, coordinate a curbside exchange. If you are going virtual, you can exchange recipes and cook together!
3 Hanukkah Jeopardy
Test your Hanukkah knowledge! Break up into teams—each household can be a team—Let’s play Jeopardy! Don’t forget to pose your answers in question form. Get your Jeopardy board here.
4 Song Sing-off
This is fun and can get competitive! Break up into teams—again, each household can be a team—then begin your sing-off! Choose a festive Hanukkah word. You must belt out at least eight words of a song that contains the festive word. Then the other team must choose a different song containing that word. The team that can sing the most songs with that word wins!
5 Hanukkah Crafts
Time to get creative! Whether you’re making a Sand Art Menorah or creating Origami Dreidels, there are so many fun crafts you can create as a family to add to your holiday decor. Every person can add their own personal touch. Here are some more fun crafts to try.
6 Hanukkah Games
Move over dreidels! There are so many fun Hanukkah games for all to join in on! From Menorah Ring Toss, to Hanukkah Mad Libs, to Taboo Jewish Edition, these games will fill your Hanukkah celebration with lots of laughs. Here are some adult Hanukkah themes games. And here are some for the kids too.
7 Hanukkah Scavenger Hunt
Get everyone up and moving around for a Hanukkah themed scavenger hunt. Have players find items from a list in a time set time frame. Create a list around the Hanukkah theme in mind. Some ideas are to collect all-blue items, things that light up, or items that begin with “H” for Hanukkah. The goal of these games is to have fun and encourage engagement for participants.
8 Hanukkah Talent Show
Do you have a few magic tricks up your sleeve? Do your kids love performing skits together? Show off your talents! Ask your guest to sign up to perform in advance. Give each performer about 5 minutes, have your MC intro each act and enjoy the show!
